Abstract
The Central Research Laboratory (CRL) was founded in 1969 at the Central Institute of Postgraduate Education of Physicians for the concentration and maintenance of expensive equipment, its maximal use in the research of departments, clinics, and external research organizations. The laboratory united specialists in theory, clinical practice, and hygiene to conduct comprehensive studies of major research problems. CRL was an effective experimental base that made it possible to perfect new treatment options and surgical tactics and to test medical equipment.
