Abstract
The basic iron kinetic data and its biological role in the human body are presented. Possible mechanisms for the implementation of its biological functions, both at the level of cells and the entire organism, are set out. Main symptoms associated with a deficiency or an excess of iron and iron-associated diseases are considered.
