Abstract
The lecture describes the main stages of formation and development of numerous methods of laboratory diagnostics.
Discusses the place and role of laboratory diagnostics among other medical specialties. It is shown that
laboratory diagnosis is an integrative profession based on the fundamental basics of many scientific disciplines:
medical, biological and other, ranging from classical physics and chemistry to applied mathematics and molecular
genetics. Lists several names of doctors, physicists, chemists, mathematicians who lived in different times and
have made great contributions to the development of laboratory diagnostics.
