Abstract

The objective of this review is to study the role of apoptosis in the processes of cellular adaptation in the oral cavity based on the analysis of data published in the modern medical scientific literature. The review includes data from foreign and domestic studies for the last 20 years. The analysis of data on the identification of the causes and mechanisms of apoptosis in hypo- and hyperbiotic processes, as well as in the development of malignant neoplasms in the oral cavity, is presented. It has been revealed that there are a number of cellular adaptation specificities in the oral mucosa, which in each case have specific to a particular factor sign of apoptosis. The role of apoptosis in the development of atrophy in the oral cavity because of dental prosthetics remains poorly studied.
