Physiological mechanisms and psychological factors of stress reaction development in highly qualified ballroom dancers

Abstract

This paper presents an overview of modern domestic and foreign literature on the problems of the occurrence and manifestation of negative stress reactions of athletes-dancers. According to literary sources, it has been established that psychological stress and psycho-emotional tension in dancers can be caused by various factors, including competitive stress, organizational stress, and depend on the personal individual typological qualities of the athlete. The lack of financial resources and the negative impact of “interpersonal stressors” can contribute to the development of neuropsychic stress in athletes-dancers. Research shows that male dancers may be subjected to ridicule and insults because of their membership in dance sports more often than men involved in other sports. Since the psychoemotional state of one partner affects the other, a promising direction is the development of coping strategies and recreational programs to reduce anxiety and symptoms of neuropsychiatric stress in athletes-dancers.
