Drug reprofiling: from random observation to systematic development
Keywords:

Abstract
The emergence of new diseases such as COVID-19 and the resistance of dangerous diseases to existing drugs have created a demand for the rapid development of new drugs. The concept of drug repurposing has been proposed to improve the efficiency, reduce time and financial costs of drug development. Repurposing is a strategy for identifying new medical indications for already approved medicines. The review presents modern computational and experimental approaches to the search for drug candidates for repurposing, as well as the problems that lie along the way.
